Margaret Byrne
Freemasons Homes of Southern Tasmania
Care Unit Supervisor
Freemasons Homes of Southern Tasmania is one of the longest serving aged
care facilities in Tasmania. With 2 facilities just outside of Hobart they
operate a 130 bed combination high/low care facility, as well as a separate
34 bed low care unit.
After 55 years of operation, management decided to implement a
computerised care system. The decision was promoted by a desire
to enhance documentation processes and resident care, as well as
embracing cutting-edge technology.
After considering several options, the iCare system was selected.
Margaret Byrne, one of the Care Unit Supervisors, was given the task
to project manage the implementation.
"The learning curve was a huge step for many of our staff. Nine months
down the track we are delighted with the way they have embraced the
iCare system. We are now all enjoying the advantages of having resident
care documentation so readily available to us and all the other health
care professionals with whom we interact." Margaret commented.
