Stay up to date on eHealth

Australia's Federal, State and Territory health authorities have released an eHealth website. The website is available to help you explore the eHealth concept and stay in touch with the latest innovations as they unfold.

A section of the website is dedicated to healthcare providers, with a page specifically for those working in the aged care industry. This section explains how eHealth will benefit the aged care industry by introducing electronic medication management intended to support prescribers and dispensers to provide safe, quality care for aged care residents.

Individual Healthcare Identifiers (IHIs) will play a significant role in electronic medication management as they will be the key to identifying all parties involved in each healthcare transaction. If you are yet to implement an electronic medication management system, understanding both the benefits such a system would bring to your organisation and how you would electronically link into the wider medication management process are the first steps.

The website also provides links to the latest eHealth news, upcoming events, eHealth links to Australian health departments, industry associations and peak bodies and an FAQ section.
