Welcome to the first edition of eHealth in Aged Care.
|
The aim of this regular eNewsletter is to help people working in the aged care industry better understand the worldwide trend of health care providers embracing information
technology to improve health outcomes and, at the same time, delivering efficiency gains via the effective use of resources.
We will enable this understanding by sourcing the views of those working in the Australia aged care industry, as well as providing commentary
on the latest developments as they arise. One of the key areas we will focus on is the move by the Australian Government towards the introduction
of electronic health records and what this means for aged care providers.
To help launch eHealth in Aged Care, iCare are giving away 2 Panasonic rugged cameras valued at $659 each.
To go into the draw to win one camera for yourself and the other for your
aged care facility, simply click here to enter your details. To increase the chances of you and your aged care facility winning a Panasonic rugged camera, once you have
confirmed your entry there is an option to refer others. Please see Terms & Conditions on the online entry form.
Handy Hints -
Maximising iCare for Accreditation Compliance
Based upon the tri-annual nature of accreditation, 2009 has been a significant year for full accreditation audits. Care and nursing documentation is a key
element of the standards and there is certainly evidence that the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency is looking positively on those organisations that have
shifted their model of documentation away from the RCS funding to one centred around a person's needs.
Are your Care Domains used in your nursing care plans still based on the RCS funding instrument? If so, iCare recommends you create a set of care domains
moving away from a Care Plan reflecting the RCS and focusing on the residents care needs. Should you require any assistance with this change please contact Candice Rice, iCare Customer
Manger on 03 9652 8100.
